Speaking to Crewe Alexandra’s official website, their manager David Artell has waxed lyrical over barely-seen Tottenham Hotspur youngster J’Neil Bennett, who has joined the League One side on loan.
The Lowdown: Spurs academy thriving…
The 19-year-old is yet another youngster to attract praise after coming through Tottenham’s glistening youth set up.
Indeed, the likes of Oliver Skipp, Dane Scarlett and Nile John are among a few recent names to attract plenty of attention for their performances at academy level and beyond.
The Latest: Manager blown away by Bennett…
After Crewe snapped up Bennett on loan until January, Artell has raved over the youngster, who has played just nine minutes of senior competitive action for Spurs.

His debut came during the Europa Conference League qualifying round against Pacos de Ferreira last month, but Crewe’s manager has seen enough of him behind the scenes to give a glowing review.
As well as Bennett, Artell was full of praise for the Lilywhites for being so accommodating during the deal.
“Tottenham were really accommodating and let J’Neil come up for a week, so we could have a look at him and he could have a look at us,” he explained to Crewe’s official website.
“We worked really closely with Tottenham and they were terrific. It worked out really well and J’Neil got to know the lads and to see what we were about. I cannot praise Tottenham or J’Neil enough.
“He must have enjoyed his time up here with us and he scored a fantastic goal in pre-season and he was always in our thoughts after the way he played and trained.
“Now he is still a young boy and he is out on his first loan but I am really excited to see him play in a competitive game for us. He is an exciting player and a good addition to the squad.”
The Verdict: Another hyped starlet emerging?
Bennett has also received praise from figures close to Tottenham, with reliable reporter Alasdair Gold also lavishing the teenager. Taking to Twitter, he explained that the 19-year-old has ‘plenty of talent’ and a loan switch to Crewe is a ‘great move’ for both him and by Spurs.
Lilywhites supporters might now watch on and see if Bennett can impress enough to turn heads back home at Hotspur Way.
