Napoli have reportedly bid €25 million (£21m/$28m) for Manchester United star Scott McTominay – but the Red Devils are holding out for more.

According to , Napoli want a new midfielder and have identified McTominay or fellow Scotland international Billy Gilmour as their top targets. However, the report states they will either go for the United ace or the Brighton player. While the Italian team have reportedly offered £21m for McTominay, the Red Devils want at least £25m ($33m).

United are trying to boost their war chest with player sales, with academy products such as McTominay going down as pure profit on the balance sheet. United reportedly rejected a bid from Fulham for the 27-year-old earlier this summer, but he is said to be keen on the move to Napoli. Whether he stays put remains to be seen.

McTominay, who scored 10 goals last season in his best-ever return for United, is into the last year of his contract, although there is an option to extend that by a further year. Since making his first-team debut in the 2016-17 season, he has made 254 appearances for the Premier League giants.
