As reported by The Daily Telegraph, West Ham United are making ambitious moves in the transfer market this summer with a bid for Villarreal star Cedric Bakambu.
What’s the story?
West Ham’s problem in the striking department were well documented last season with nobody really able to step up to the plate and consistently knock in the goals for the Irons. Only Andy Carroll threatened to do so but he struggled with many injury problems.
That’ll be why Slaven Bilic has authorised a £22m move for Villarreal man Cedric Bakambu, according to The Telegraph. They say that the club has already made the offer for the DR Congo international.
What does he offer?
With 12 goals for the La Liga outfit last term in 22 appearances, Bakambu clearly knows his way to goal. Seven of those goals came in his last eight matches of the season, highlighting that he has the ability to go through bursts of scoring at high rates. With 22 goals the season prior, he’d offer West Ham serious firepower should they move for him.
With experience in Turkey, France and European competition, he has a background that ticks plenty of boxes for the Hammers who are looking for talent that can bring them to the next level.
Coming into his prime at 26 years of age, the stage is set for a move to the English Premier League and potential greatness at the London Stadium.
