The Spaniard has brought City unprecedented success but he is yet to sign a new deal, with his current contract running until the summer of 2025. Now, goalkeeper Ederson has backed the Citizens to continue their winning ways to be successful when the ex-Barcelona boss eventually departs.

He told TNT Sports Brazil, via The Times: “City is a very well-structured club, well-managed, great directors, great CEO. I believe the club already has the next manager in mind… the day Pep decides to leave, they will try to follow the same line of work.
“Of course it’d be a great loss [if Guardiola left]. We’re talking about the best manager in the world but I see a really well-prepared club for the post-Pep era.”"

City have won everything under Guardiola since he took charge in 2016. Although his contract is winding down, reports suggest the former Bayern Munich manager may sign a contract extension in the coming months. That is likely to be bad news for the rest of the Premier League.

Aside from speculation over the City boss' future, Ederson and Guardiola will now prepare for their next Premier League clash away to lowly Wolves on Sunday. City currently sit second in the division behind early pace-setters Liverpool after seven games.
