Every league is competitive at this time of the year, but it is hard to imagine any harder leagues worldwide than the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday are loitering in the play-offs at the moment will be hoping that they can give themselves a chance of promotion in the first half of 2016.
Additions will be necessary in this January window and the Yorkshire club may need signings if they are to be promoted, let alone the signings they would need if they are to gain promotion.
With every team in the top half harbouring promotion ambitions, the pressure will be high and every point will be as crucial as ever for the Championship side.
The remaining few days of the window will be pivotal for many Championship sides and Wednesday are no different.
Could this be the year that Sheffield finally gets a side back in the top flight?
Here is an ideal XI come the end of this window..
Keiren Westwood
Goalkeeping is one of the areas tested most heavily in your squad if you make it into the big time of the Premier League and Westwood still has question marks about whether he is up to the standard.
The Irish stopper has had a decent season so far and will need to continue this form if Wednesday have any chance of promotion.
Jack Hunt
Hunt has been a highly rated player across the country for several seasons and he has really impressed for Sheffield Wednesday this campaign.
The full-back has been strong defensively, averaging 2.3 tackles per game and a useful weapon going forwards.
Glenn Loovens
Loovens has, according to WhoScored.com been one of Wednesday’s highest rated players this season and, crucially, is averaging the most clearances per game of anyone at the club.
Marc Wilson
With the strong partnership of Shawcross and Wollscheid, Marc Wilson has struggled for game time and largely looked like he isn’t up to Premier League standards.
The utility defender would be a classy signing for many Championship clubs.
Joe Bennett
Recently added on loan from Villa, Bennett is likely to compete for the left-back berth at Wednesday and provide some competition to Pudil.
Sam Hutchinson
This ex-Chelsea man has done brilliantly to make a career as a professional footballer after briefly retiring from the game after a severe knee injury.
Hutchinson has now found himself as a defensive midfield player and has added an extra element to the Wednesday midfield.
Kieran Lee
Adding players in the centre of midfield is always a bit of a risk and most would say that Lee has performed well enough to retain his place in the side.
Lee’s pass completion of over 80% shows how crucial he is in the centre of the park.
Fernando Forestieri
Former Watford man, Forestieri is a hugely talented individual and often lights up the pitch from his attacking midfield role.
The Argentine will hope to add to his assists in the second half of the season and will need to improve on his 0.8 key passes per game. Luckily, the midfielder has compensated for this by netting 11 times himself.
Gary Hooper
Recently joining the club, Hooper is a proven goal scorer and could make a huge difference having scored 7 goals already this season.
Ross McCormack
McCormack might be on the move in this window and the Scottish forward is a highly talented finisher, who could make a great partner for Gary Hooper.
The Fulham striker will face interest from plenty of clubs if he is on the move and it will take quite a fee to secure his signature.
Junior Hoilett
As QPR look set for another campaign in the Championship, this flying winger could be lured to the promotion battle with Wednesday.
Ross Wallace would relish the competition for his position and Hoilett’s electric pace would make him a massive threat.
