Luke Shaw is set to be handed a new long-term contract at Manchester United, and Everton fans are split on using the news to move for Matteo Darmian.

According to reports, Manchester United are close to agreeing a new long-term contract with Shaw.

The Englishman has been in superb form so far this season, after he was linked with Everton during the summer transfer window.

Assuming Shaw and 19 year-old summer signing Diogo Dalot are set to become the Red Devils’ full backs for years to come, Darmian could well leave in search of regular playing time.

Everton meanwhile are hard at work overhauling their ageing back line, with Lucas Digne joining this summer to replace Leighton Baines.

The Toffees have had to make do without Seamus Coleman for most of this season, and Darmian’s ability to play on either flank could make him a very useful addition.

The 28 year-old Italian international has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, and 46 per cent of Everton fans think they should throw their hat in the ring.
